Vader's Past


Vader's history is a little blurry as you can imagine.  I know for a fact I am at least his 4th if not his 5th home in the past 5 months or so.  The couple that had him before me only had him for 3 weeks.  They had another great dane and had apparently gotten Vader for breeding purposes.  He was chained in their yard during the day while they were gone and they had "put him on a diet" thinking that would help his legs.  Sadly this diet was a bit extreme.  I took 8 month old Vader to the vet where he weighed in at only 103lbs.  For his bone structure and over all size, this meant he was about 25lbs underweight.  A big deal for a growing puppy in my opinion..


Vader came to my home on May 1st, 2009.  Although he has only been here a short amount of time, he is already gaining weight and slowly losing signs of his missing patches of hair.  His hair lose was probably causes from demodectic mage.  Demodex  is not contagious and signs can disappear with proper diets and medicated baths.  Vader was also covered in hot spots and bed soars that are just now starting to scab over and heal.  He had fly bites covering the insides of his ears and cut on his feet from "getting loose" at his last home.  


Although Vader's story is a sad one, I pray that he will one day have the money he needs for his surgery so he can run.. or simply walk.. like a normal dog!
